As stated in previous posts, goals are important. Writing those goals down is also very important.

Writing down your goals is not just because you might forget them. The process has very important results. My hope is that after reading this, you will begin writing down your own goals – business, personal, relational, spiritual, whatever…

Simply setting a goal is important because it doubles your chances of success, and that is good. But if you actually write your goal down, it is 10 times more likely that you will succeed. 10 times – don’t miss that – 1,000%.

Writing down things (including goals) causes certain processes to occur; specifically, mental and psychological things happen that would not happen otherwise.

One benefit of writing it down is that it is easier to remember something that you write down. It gives you focus like when you write down your shopping list rather than just go browsing. If you write down your list, you will know what you need. If you don’t write down your list, you are likely to forget some things or something. Writing down things causes information to move from one area of the brain to another. And you are encoding the information. It simply works.

Also, when you write your goal down, you have something to regularly review. Repeatedly thinking about it increases your cognitive processes and increases your chance of success further. Sadly, few people take the time to regularly review and evaluate their goals. Those who do review would never dream of stopping.

Try setting a small goal. Write it down in as much detail as you can. Periodically pull the goal out to remind yourself of it and evaluate how well you are achieving it.

When you see this working and how it works for you, you will be ready to really set and achieve the goals you need.
