9 Ways to Find the Energy You Need – Part 3

Did you know that if you are mentally and physically sluggish, cooling down can often help?

I want to share some ways that I’ve learned that can help you cool down inside, so you can invigorate your mind and find some of that lost energy.

First – Try yawning.  We know that we typically yawn when we’re sleepy, but there is a reason for that.  Your brain knows when it needs an extra dose of oxygen, so you yawn.  Those large intakes of oxygen help to cool you down also.

Second – Try breathing.  There is a type of meditative breathing where you curl your tongue into a “U” shape and breathe through it while exhaling through your nose.  Do this numerous times to slow your mind and cool yourself.  You can try it almost anywhere you are.

Third – Try a lower temperature.  Lower your thermostat at night before you go to sleep.  You not only cool down the room (and yourself), but you also may find a deeper and more refreshing sleep.

Fourth – Try fruit.  If you know what time you normally begin to get sluggish, try eating some form of berry about 30 minutes prior to your lull.  You also can eat other fruits that are low in fight and high in moisture.  Cucumbers also work well.  They give you a natural boost, provide necessary moisture, and help cool you down.

Fifth – Try water.  There is a reason why we are told to drink a lot of water.  Your body needs it.  And though you may like to add ice, your body needs to work more to raise the water to body temperature, so drink a lot of it at room temperature.  Water will help your body with most of its normal functions – including your brain.

Sixth – Try a mist.  That’s right, mist your face.  You could use water or essential oils to help you cool down and become refreshed.

Seventh – Try changing your socks.  I’m serious.  Whenever you start to get hot, your feet get hot and usually stay hot because of your socks (which capture the sweat).  If you change your socks, you may find that your whole body feels fresher and cooler.
