9 Ways to Find the Energy You Need – Part 1

Do you ever feel like there is not enough time in the day?  Does it seem like you can never take a break (whether it’s at home or work)?  Do you find it hard to have time for resting, reenergizing, and sleeping?

Your busyness may be the culprit.

Let me suggest a couple of things that might help you.

First – Make a schedule.

Whether you want to use a digital calendar or a paper calendar, start scheduling everything that you can.  Go ahead and include the things that are a regular part of your day (i.e. work, appointments, meals, sleep) first.  Add in the “extra” things you want to do (even if they aren’t work-related), so that you don’t overextend your time.

Being thorough in your calendar will give you a clear picture of how much time you have remaining.  You may be surprised at how busy “regular” life can be, and that is an important thing to realize.  It also helps you see what you need to cut out or what you don’t need to agree to add.

Second – Lessen your choices

There are things that we do that could be streamlined.  For example, eating.  We spend a lot of time before each meal trying to figure out what we’ll eat.  But if you take a few minutes before the week begins to plan out what your week’s meals will be, you’ll cut out the daily wasted time.  You also will know what needs to thaw or be prepared in advance.

Also consider your clothing.  In the mornings, we often have a lot on our minds which makes choosing clothing take longer than it should.  Try setting your clothes out the night before to streamline your morning routine.  You also can weed through your closet to get rid of clothes you won’t or can’t wear to cut down on organizing and choosing.

We often have too many things that we simply have not bothered to throw away or donate. Being able to know what you have on hand enables you to know what you do need and ends up saving you time and money.

Imagine not having to make as many choices by making fewer ones.  You will be surprised at the energy that you can recoup.
